This year’s JAHSS annual conference will be held at the Shonan Fujisawa Campus of Keio University, under the theme “Human Diversity and Human Security."

The diversity of individual experiences stems not only from broad social changes but also from rapid shifts within the very environments we reside in. With the ongoing conflicts and heightened geopolitical tensions, we now live in a world where we are constantly challenged both in our socio-political beliefs and our sense of security. Paired with the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence, individuals are constantly confronted by an increasingly complex and hard-to-grasp reality. Therefore, this year’s conference calls for a wide array of research topics to showcase the profound diversity of our contemporary societies.
Presentations are also welcomed in Japanese, in addition to English submissions.

We encourage all submissions to address and have ties to the following three pillars of human security:
1. Freedom from Fear – The protection of individuals from physical violence, such as war, crime, and state repression.
2. Freedom from Want – The protection of individuals from economic, health, food, and environmental insecurities.
3. Freedom from Indignity – The assurance that everyone can fully participate in their community and make choices on their own behalf, alongside the guarantee of rights, equality, and protection from social exclusion.
