Content:
The spread of violent extremism poses a serious challenge to human security. Individuals become involved in extremist groups through a variety of pathways, and such involvement is not necessarily driven solely by attraction to extremist ideologies. Consequently, efforts to prevent the spread of violent extremism and address its expansion require both attention to the diverse factors contributing to individuals' involvement in violent extremism and engagement from local communities, governments, and the international community.
This session will bring together distinguished scholars and experts. Drawing on diverse perspectives from both Japan and overseas, this hybrid session aims to foster a lively discussion on the mechanisms through which violent extremism spreads and the range of approaches needed to address this challenge. We encourage audience’s active contribution to the discussion throughout the session.
